Lanka allocates Rs. 37,703-mn for various projects
Colombo: The government has allocated Rs. 37,703 million for infrastructure development, moral and spiritual development and livelihood development for the next year.
The allocations would be utilised in various projects to be carried out countrywide for nation building activities.
The Gama Neguma commenced in 2006 in 119 Grama Niladari Divisions and the Gama Neguma is being carried out in 14,000 Grama Sevaka Divisions this year.
'The allocation will be utilised mainly in three segments like infrastructure development, livelihood development and moral and spiritual development sectors.
Under infrastructure development, the people will benefit with road development, electricity supplies, drinking water, agriculture development and livestock development which come under livelihood development. Mathata Thitha will change the behavioural attitudes of the people and will come under moral and spiritual development,' Nation Building Ministry Senior Assistant Secretary, P. V. Gunathilaka said.
Infrastructure development programmes are implemented through the Jana Saba with community participation. Jana Saba comprise Government officials including Grama Sevakas, Midwives, Samurdhi Officers and Agriculture Research Development Officers and the public.
