Kerala to project Kochi as electronic hub

Kochi: The State Government has taken steps to project Kochi as an ‘electronic hub’ in Kerala considering the growth in the sector, Mr P.H. Kurien, Managing Director, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation has said.

Several companies in India and outside have evinced interest in setting up software and hardware units in Kochi and even the State Government is planning to set up a semi-conductor manufacturing facility in the city in association with a US company, he said.

Mr Kurien was speaking at a function to mark the formal tie-up between Italian electrical equipment major Borri and Aluva-based Unitek Power Solutions to manufacture and market UPS systems in the country. Announcing the formal launch of the joint venture, Mr A. P .M. Mohammed Haneesh, the Ernakulam District Collector said that Kochi is receiving a slew of investment proposals in various sectors.
