Kerala needs high-speed rail system: Isaac.

Kerala needs a high-speed rail corridor to reduce reliance on a car-based transit system and the fourth international Kerala Study Congress will discuss ways to put in place such a transport mechanism, CPI(M) leader T. M. Thomas Isaac said recently. He was speaking at a press conference ahead of the two-day Congress which begins here on Saturday.

Kerala’s need of the hour is massive infrastructure development to attract private capital. Social infrastructure, particularly higher education, too needs massive funding.

The meeting will discuss innovative ways in which the State can fund infrastructure development. This includes the setting up of Special Purpose Vehicles for infrastructure funding, he said.
