Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board Approves 32 Projects Worth ₹743.37 Crore.
The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has approved 32 new projects worth ₹743.37 crore during its 51st board meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. These approvals include projects discussed in the executive committee meeting on November 6. With this latest round of approvals, KIIFB has now sanctioned a total of 1,147 projects, valued at ₹87,378.33 crore, according to Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal.
Among the key projects approved are the development of a district hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, the establishment of a financial-industrial corridor from Vizhinjam to Thiruvananthapuram-Punalur, and the creation of a centre of excellence for mathematics and other studies. Other significant initiatives include the development of AKG Heritage Square in Kannur, as well as the integrated development of the Chilavannoor canal.
In the latest round of approvals, KIIFB also sanctioned 11 projects worth ₹335.28 crore under the Public Works Department, three projects totaling ₹23.35 crore under the Coastal Shipping and Inland Navigation Department, and ₹30.38 crore for medical equipment procurement for nine hospitals under the Health Department. Additionally, projects across various sectors, including revenue, local self-government, sports, forest, tourism, industries, and IT, were also green-lit.
Notable projects include the construction of a digital science park in the sixth phase of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, and land acquisition for a carbon-neutral park in Wayanad. Other approvals include three urban rejuvenation and integrated transport projects in Kochi, expansion of paediatric and women's wards at SAT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, and the construction of modern gas crematoriums. A project focused on mitigating human-wildlife conflict through community participation was also included in the approval.
Additional infrastructure projects include land acquisition for public works, the construction of Mundakkal bridge in Alappuzha, the second phase of the ring road in Kottarakkara, development of Thalassery Kadalthara-Overbury park/plaza in Meenachil, and a check dam-cum-bridge across the Chinnar river.
To date, KIIFB has disbursed a total of ₹31,379.08 crore for approved projects, with completed projects worth ₹18,423.50 crore.
