JSW Energy Subsidiary Secures 700 MW Solar Project from NTPC, Boosting Capacity to 13.3 GW
JSW Energy announced on Saturday that its subsidiary, JSW Neo Energy, has received a Letter of Award from NTPC Limited for a 700 MW solar project. This recent project win boosts JSW Energy's total locked-in generation capacity to 13.3 GW, with 3.1 GW derived from solar power, according to a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The BSE filing noted that JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, has been awarded the contract to set up the 700 MW ISTS-connected solar power project by NTPC Limited. This new solar project aligns with JSW Energy's ongoing focus on renewable energy and marks another step in its journey toward expanding its green energy portfolio.
JSW Energy currently has an installed generation capacity of 7.2 GW and expects to increase that to 9.8 GW by the end of 2024. The addition of the 700 MW solar project from NTPC is part of the company's broader strategy to enhance its renewable energy footprint while contributing to the country's sustainable energy goals.
This project award by NTPC is seen as a significant achievement for JSW Energy, further cementing its position in the solar power industry and demonstrating its commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in India.
