Jamnagar refinary starts exports this month

New Delhi: Exports from Reliance Industries Ltd’s (RIL) new refinery at the Jamnagar special economic zone will begin this month.

“During the course of this month products are likely to be sold,” Mr P. Raghavendran, President (Refinery Business), RIL, told newspersons at the sidelines of the Petrotech 2009 conference here on Thursday. He, however, did not elaborate on the markets the company was targeting. “All processing units will be ready in the next few da ys,” he said. During December last year, the company had commissioned the 580,000 barrels a day refinery, (which) is adjacent to its existing 660,000 bpd refinery at Jamnagar.

The combined capacity of the two refineries has made Jamnagar the world’s largest refining hub. As regards opportunities to set up refineries abroad, he said, “The company was looking at opportunities. The company was looking at setting up both greenfield projects as well as taking up expansion of old refineries.”
