Italy Provincial launches seven uplift projects
Herat City: Italy Provincial Reconstruction Team in western Herat province inaugurated seven uplift projects including a bridge at the cost of $236000. The bridge which is 35 meter long and 5.5 meter wide was constructed in Angil district of the province in three months.
Ahmad Farhad Qazizada, spokesman for Rural Rehabilitations and Development Department of the province told Pajhwok Afghan News a supportive wall of 100 meter was also constructed in the area where the bridge was constructed.
He added the project was completed with the support of the residents and the problems of 4000 families were resolved.
Six other projects of National Solidarity Programme (NSP) including girls' secondary school, water supply project from Iran, and canal cleaning projects in Guzrah districts were completed on Wednesday.
Qazizada said the double storey with 12 classrooms would have the capacity to accommodate 600 students.
He said the six projects were completed in four moths at the cost of 128,000 afghanis and over 1500 families will benefit from the projects.
Eng. Hamidullah, deputy of Rural Rehabilitations and Development department in the province said over 300 uplift projects have been completed in 15 district of the province at the cost of over 370 million afghanis with 10 per cent of local contribution.
The project consisted of school construction, social centers, digging wells, agriculture and irrigation system, power supply and vocational trainings.
