Infosys gets appointed as consultant for R-APDRP scheme

Jaipur: Rajasthan government-run power companies have appointed IT major Infosys as consultant for implementing centre-funded Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (R-APDRP) in 87 cities across the state under the 11th Five-Year Plan.

These companies are Jaipur Discom, Ajmer Discom and Jodhpur Discom.

R-APDRP is a flagship programme of the government of India with a total outlay of Rs 51,577 crore. Power Finance Corporation has been appointed as the nodal agency for the programme.

Under the pragramme, the IT consultant would have to handhold and guide the power utilities from concept-to-commissioning for facilitating reduction of AT&C losses to a never-before level of 15 per cent through strengthening and up-gradation of Sub-Transmission and Distribution network.

The central government has earmarked Rs 459 crore for the project, out of which Rs 316 crore would come from union power ministry, while the remaining Rs 143 crore would have to be raised by the three discoms.
