Indraprastha Gas to Establish CNG Stations at Noida International Airport.
Noida International Airport (NIA) has partnered with Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) to establish Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and efficient transportation.
As part of the collaboration, IGL will set up two CNG stations—one in the west precinct and another in the airside area—to serve travelers, airport staff, and partners. Additionally, IGL will develop the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, ensuring seamless connectivity to the CNG stations.
The partnership also includes the development of pipeline infrastructure to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to food and beverage outlets, lounges, and kitchens across the terminal and ancillary airport buildings.
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of NIA, said, “Our collaboration with IGL marks another step in our journey towards building a sustainable and future-ready airport. By integrating CNG infrastructure, we are providing cleaner fuel alternatives to airport users while supporting the broader transition to greener mobility in the region.”
The initiative aligns with NIA’s vision of creating an environmentally responsible and energy-efficient airport, ensuring sustainable mobility solutions for passengers, employees, and partners.
In its first phase, NIA will feature one runway and one terminal, with the capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually. Upon completion of its fourth phase, the airport will be equipped to manage 70 million passengers per year, solidifying its role as a key aviation hub in the region.\
