Indo Tech commissions transformer plant in Kancheepuram
Chennai: Indo Tech Transformers Limited has commissioned a power transformer plant to manufacture 220Kv and 400Kv class power transformers near Kancheepuram on Friday.
The plant has been built on a 30-acre plot with a built-up area of 1,10,000 sft at an estimated cost of Rs 65 crore.
With the inauguration of this plant, Chennai-based Indo Tech Transformers Limited’s total installed capacity has reached 7,450 MVA (mega volt ampere) . It is expected to provide direct employment to over 200-plus personnel and indirect employment to over 400-plus personnel.
The plant has an installed capacity of 4,000 MVA per annum with a facility for manufacturing up to 315 MVA 420-KV class transformers. It is equipped with modern machinery and equipment such as a vapour phase drying unit, process equipment, autoclaves, winding machines, formers, oil filtration equipment and cranes.
The plant has the necessary equipment to conduct partial discharge tests and a vertical winding machine for high capacity coils. A 2,000Kv lightning impulse generator is being imported from Haefely, Switzerland, for conducting impulse tests.
Indo Tech officials said the new plant would cater to the needs of state electricity boards, corporate and industrial customers and contractors, in addition to the export market for large power transformers.
The Rs 200-crore company currently has orders on hand worth Rs 180 crore.
