Indian Railway is planning a 2x500 MW Nuclear power project Mumbai: The Indian Railways has approached Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) for setting up 1000 mw of captive nuclear capacity on its behalf.

The proposal put forward by the Indian Railways includes setting up two units of 500 mw on railway land. Power generated from the plants will be used by the Railways.

This venture with NPCIL could be in line with the one that has already been floated with NTPC.
