Indian government to award 7000 KM road projects this fiscal - Report.

Exim News Service reported that the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that it would award 7,000 kilometre of road projects in the current fiscal mainly on engineering, procurement and construction mode, keeping in mind EPC's success last year.

The Ministry sources said that 5,000 kilometre would be awarded by the National Highways Authority of India NHAI and the remaining 2,000 kilometre would be undertaken through various National Highway Development Programmes and schemes run by the government.

Sources said that various challenges such as delays in green clearances, land acquisition, pending streamlining of delayed projects and the overall economic slowdown had hit the road sector.

According to sources, the Ministry would think about awarding projects under build-operate-transfer (BOT), depending on the response of developers.
