IN-SPACe to Set Up Space Labs at Select Academic Institutions.
The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has issued a Request for Proposal (RfP) to set up Antariksh Prayogshala (Space Labs) at select academic institutions across India, aimed at strengthening the country’s space technology ecosystem.
According to IN-SPACe, the initiative seeks to establish dedicated space laboratories within Indian academic institutions to provide hands-on training and practical exposure to students enrolled in space technology–related courses. The labs are expected to foster meaningful collaboration between industry and academia, while supporting India’s long-term goal of emerging as a leading global space economy.
Under the scheme, up to seven academic institutions will be chosen in a phased manner from different regions of the country. To ensure balanced regional representation, one Space Lab is proposed to be set up in each zone. IN-SPACe will extend financial assistance of up to 75 per cent of the total project cost, capped at ₹5 crore per institution. The funding will be released on a milestone-linked basis, the agency said.
