Idukki Bags Rs. 153-crore Power Project.

In order to solve the electricity issues in the district, a project worth Rs. 153 crore would be implemented soon.

The fund was granted as part of the Central Government’s Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, said Idukki MP Joice George during the district electricity development committee meet held at the Collectorate Conference Hall here on Monday.

Under the new project, changing of all damaged and outdated analog meters, providing service connection to all those who are coming under BPL, setting up of around 200 transformers and renovation of all electric lines through colonies will be done, said Idukki MLA Roshy Augustine who was also present at the meeting of the committee consisting of MP as chairman, District Collector as convenor, MLAs, district panchayat president and Electricity Board officials.

As part of the project, 11 KV lines would be installed along 12 km at Mailapuzha-Makkuvalli, Manayathadam and Kaithappara areas, besides providing electricity connection to around 148 families.
