Hyderabadis to have Wi-Fi access to Internet soon.
The long cherished dream of Hyderabadis to have pan-city Wi-Fi access to the Internet will become a reality soon. Telecom service provider Reliance is working on a pilot to provide Wi-Fi for the upcoming global meet of Metropolis.
The meet, scheduled to be held next month (October 6-10), will be attended by Mayors, city administrators and urban planners from across the world.
Meanwhile, the Government is in the process of implementing a much bigger project where different service providers would offer Wi-Fi to the people.
'We are in the process to call for tenders and selecting the winners to put in place a system. After that, we will allow all the telecom players to offer Wi-Fi to customers,' Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said here on the sidelines of a Nasscom Executive Council meeting recently.
'We will provide a level-playing field to all the players. And the users are free to choose a network to get access to the Internet via Wi-Fi,' the Minister said.
