Hindustan Zinc plans to achieve 1-mn tonne capacity

New Delhi: Hindustan Zinc, belonging to Vedanta Group is embarking on major expansion programme, which upon completion will see its total capacity moving up to one million tonne. In addition, the company will also install additional 110 MW to its total wind power capacity.

Expansion plans, which are under implementation, are being financed through internal accruals.

During 2006-07, the company increased its reserves and resources by 32 million tonne, an increase of 18 per cent over the previous year. Total reserve and resources as on March 31, 2007 stood at 209.4 million tonne. Wind energy projects being undertaken by the company in Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra totalling 110.4 MW are progressing as per schedule. Its total wind power capacity would stand at 148.8 MW after the expansion, it said.
