Hettich India to Double Investment in India Over Next 5 Years.

Hettich India, the Indian arm of the German luxury furniture fittings giant, plans to double its investment in the country over the next five years. The company has already invested nearly ₹2,000 crore in India over the past decade and is now eyeing further expansion to solidify its presence.

Andre Eckholt, Managing Director for India, the Middle East, Africa, and SAARC, emphasized India’s strategic importance, saying, “We would like to establish India as one of our R&D hubs, where we are also developing products for the Indian market. Increasingly, we are looking at India as a gateway to the world.”

India as a Manufacturing and R&D Hub

Hettich aims to position India as its second manufacturing hub alongside Germany. The company currently operates manufacturing plants in Vadodara and Indore. While one Indore facility is fully operational, a second plant is under construction and is slated to commence operations by 2025. The company has additional space in Indore for two more factories, aligning with its long-term growth vision.

Expanding Market Presence

To strengthen its footprint, Hettich operates 12 company-owned Hettich Experience Centres (COCO) across India and plans to expand further by introducing Hettich Exclusive Centres (Hex) in tier-1 cities under a franchise-based model. Over the next two years, the company intends to add 100 new experiential touchpoints to enhance customer engagement.

With a portfolio of 15,000–20,000 SKUs, furniture fittings remain the company’s primary revenue driver. However, Hettich has diversified into categories like door hardware and built-in appliances, which are expected to contribute incremental value.

Indian Market Dynamics

The Indian furniture fittings market, estimated to be worth ₹10,000–12,000 crore in 2024, presents significant opportunities. Hettich has a robust dealership network with over 2,000 active accounts. Eckholt stressed the importance of deepening relationships with existing partners rather than merely expanding the dealer base. “We are always interested in developing the market with our existing partners first,” he said.

With its ambitious investment and expansion plans, Hettich India aims to further consolidate its position as a leader in the Indian furniture fittings market while leveraging the country’s potential as a global manufacturing and innovation hub.
