Haryana to strengthen power sector in Karnal
Chandigarh: The Haryana Government will strengthen the electricity transmission and distribution system in Karnal district under which various developmental activities would be completed with a massive investment of over Rs.100 crore within the next 18 months, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of a new 33 KV power sub-station at Barota to be constructed by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Mr. Hooda said Haryana Vidyut Parsaran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam had jointly commissioned 13 new sub-stations in the district during the last three years and augmented the capacity of eight existing sub-stations.
Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power) Ashok Lavasa said UHBVN was segregating domestic and agricultural load in rural areas to provide electricity in villages on urban mode and to ensure a reliable power supply to the agriculture sector.
Creation of a High Voltage Distribution System or Arial Bunched Cable Based System is also under progress to minimise interruptions in supply and improve voltage level. It would be ensured that sufficient power is supplied to the consumers without interruption for which the transmission and distribution system would be streamlined.
