Haryana CM to Lead Meeting on Metro Expansion Plans.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will chair a high-level meeting on December 24 to review the progress of metro expansion projects in the city, officials confirmed. A key topic of discussion will be the Millennium City Centre-Cyber City line, a significant 28.8 km corridor connecting Millennium City to Cyber City, with 27 elevated stations along the route.

The meeting will focus on appointing a general consultant for the project. The tender for this role was opened last week, with eight companies bidding. Technical evaluations are underway, and financial assessments will follow to select the consultant, who will oversee procurement, construction, management, testing, and commissioning of the metro corridor.

A Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) official noted that discussions would cover various aspects of the project, including staff recruitment, finances, and coordination. The detailed design consultant has already started finalizing the route alignment and stations, and the process to engage the general consultant is moving forward.

Additionally, the meeting will address plans for an interchange at Cyber City, connecting the new metro line with Delhi Metro's Yellow Line and the Rapid Metro. The new corridor will also link with the proposed rapid rail line at Hero Honda Chowk.

In related developments, Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) officials revealed that the board has approved the draft detailed project report (DPR) for the Sector 56-Panchgaon metro line. This 36 km metro corridor, with a budget of ₹8,500 crore, will connect key areas such as Golf Course Extension Road, Southern Peripheral Road, and Manesar, and will include 28 elevated stations. Sector 56 will serve as an interchange with the Rapid Metro, and the corridor will link to both the proposed Bhondsi-Gurgaon Railway station line and the rapid rail station at Kherki Daula.

The HMRTC board also approved the draft techno-feasibility report for the Bahadurgarh-Palwal metro corridor and the ridership assessment report for the Bahadurgarh-Asaudha route.
