Guidewire to Expand India Development Centre as Second Largest Globally.

Guidewire Software, a leading provider of software and services for property and casualty insurers, plans to significantly expand its India development centre, aiming to make it the company’s second-largest globally within the next four years. Diego Devalle, Chief Product Development Officer at Guidewire, revealed that the company intends to grow its India workforce from 500 to 800 employees during this period.

The India development centre, which focuses on Cloud Services and Data Platform products, is currently spread across Bangalore and Chennai, employing over 350 engineering professionals. Guidewire also plans to establish a professional services team in India, targeting a team size of 150 by the end of 2025.

“Our vision is for a substantial portion of Guidewire’s innovations to be developed in India. The talent pool here is incredible, and we are committed to investing significantly in this market,” said Devalle.

Guidewire entered India in 2017 with the acquisition of Chennai-based Cyence and further expanded by setting up the Bangalore Development Center in 2021. The company now plans to integrate professional services with engineering in India, ensuring seamless delivery of innovations to its customers.

Guidewire’s global workforce, as of July 2024, includes 3,469 employees, with 1,692 in the United States and 1,777 internationally. The company’s Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) stood at $864 million.

In addition to strengthening its engineering capabilities, Guidewire sees potential in India’s evolving insurance market, where it plans to promote its Guidewire Cloud Platform. “India’s insurance players often rely on custom-developed software. Our platform can bring agility, efficiency, and AI-powered innovation to meet the industry’s growing needs,” Devalle added.

Guidewire is also exploring opportunities to sell its solutions in India, potentially making the country a key market for the company. The India operations are supported by a strong academia program, which partners with six top engineering institutions to attract fresh talent.

With its commitment to build, innovate, and sell in India, Guidewire aims to close the loop by integrating development, professional services, and market presence, positioning itself for growth in the region.
