Group Legrand India Installs Biodegradable Waste Processing Plant at Kochi Naval Base.

Group Legrand India, a provider of electrical and digital building infrastructure, has installed a biodegradable waste processing unit at INS Venduruthy under the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, reinforcing sustainability efforts at the naval base.

According to a press release, the initiative supports the Kochi Naval Base’s objective of achieving zero waste on ground while contributing to India’s broader circular economy goals.

The fully automatic organic waste processing unit has a capacity of around one tonne per day (TPD). It integrates shredding and drying processes to convert biodegradable waste into dry, odourless material suitable for composting within 12 hours of operation. The system operates without electrical heating coils, enhancing energy efficiency.
