Govt go-ahead for land pooling model for Nagpur-Mumbai road project.

The state cabinet recently gave approval for adopting the land pooling model for the development and design of the Nagpur-Mumbai Supercom-munication Expressway.

The total land which will have to be acquired for the adoption of the model is 20,000 hectares, of which only eight per cent is irrigated.

The road project promises to transform the face of 14 drought- hit districts of Maharashtra.

Fadnavis said, “The sole motive of the project is to bring greater agriculture and industrial prosperity in the drought hit districts along the way.”

While the project will drastically bring down the travel distance between Nagpur and Mumbai to eight hours, the larger aspects relates to the wholistic development of the towns, villages along the way and farmers will be the stakeholders.
