GODI India to Establish Rs 8,000 Crore Lithium Giga Factory in Telangana

In a significant development aligning with Telangana's vision for electric vehicle (EV) promotion, GODI India Private Limited has announced a substantial investment of ₹8,000 crore for the establishment of a 12.5 GWh cell manufacturing unit in Telangana. The investment was disclosed by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Mahesh Godi, Founder & CEO of GODI India Private Limited, during the ongoing annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The proposed investment is earmarked for the creation of a Lithium and Sodium Ion, as well as related technologies R&D, and a Giga-scale cell manufacturing facility in Telangana over a span of five years. The Memorandum of Understanding formalizing this agreement was signed between the Government of Telangana and GODI India on January 17 at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Welcoming the investment, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized that the new Telangana government is actively working towards promoting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and establishing a comprehensive EV and Energy Storage System (ESS) ecosystem in the state. The proposed project aligns with Telangana's vision and positioning GODI as a key player in the state's ESS ecosystem.

Expressing gratitude for the support from the Telangana government, Mahesh GODI affirmed that GODI would play a pivotal role in enabling and creating an ecosystem for EV and Energy Storage companies in Telangana.

The anticipated project holds significant employment generation potential, with an estimated 6,000 jobs expected in Phase 1. The first phase will witness the establishment of a 2.5 GWh cell assembly line, with plans for expansion to ten GWh in the second phase. This strategic investment underscores the commitment towards advancing sustainable and electric mobility solutions in the state of Telangana.
