Goa gets Rs. 100 cr from central funds for road projects.
Minister for Public Works Department (PWD) Ramkrishna Dhavalikar recently said that the central government has awarded Rs. 100 crore to the state for the financial year 2014-15 from the central funds for roads which will benefit Goa's internal state highways and also enable the government to carry out other major road works.
Dhavalikar was addressing the media on his arrival from Delhi at the Dabolim airport recent evening. In Delhi, Dhavalikar met the Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. He discussed various state projects, which are in the pipeline.
Dhavalikar also said that the detailed project report (DPR) on the proposed Zuari bridge is in the final stage. 'The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways can sit at any time to discuss on the DPR, wherein consensus can be arrived at at any time which will be followed by floating of tenders,' said Dhavalikar.
Stating that the meeting with Gadkari was fruitful, the PWD Minister said that the discussion on 252 kilometres of road connecting North and South districts in the state from Patradevi to Polem was also taken up.
