"GMDC Resumes Lignite Mining Operations at Tadkeshwar in South Gujarat"

Tadkeshwar lignite mines in south Gujarat, which faced a complete cessation of mining activities due to landslides a year ago, are now back in operation, thanks to the efforts of the state PSU Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC). The mines, estimated to have a remaining life of seven years, have been revitalized.

Roopwant Singh, the Managing Director of GMDC, shared that lignite dispatch is anticipated to commence from Tadkeshwar in January. The completion of earth removal work resulting from the landslide has allowed mining operations to resume since November. This development is poised to positively impact lignite production during the last quarter, signifying a significant milestone in the revival of mining activities in the region."
