Gati plans expansion in warehouses

Chennai: Distribution and supply chain solutions major Gati, which has already invested Rs 250 crore for setting up warehouses in the past two years, is planning to expand further in the coming months.

The company has set up of four lakh sq ft warehouse space in the country, Mr Shok Chanda, an executive of the company, said. It has four milion sq ft of warehouse space and are hoping to put similar kind of space” he said, adding the company is evaluating their investment plans and may decide during the next six to 12 months.

As of now, the company has a 150,000 sq ft of warehouse in Hyderabad, which is considered to be one of the largest warehouse, he said.

The company, which already provides various kinds of connectivity across the country, is also looking at options in starting a new parcel express train service between Mumbai and Guwahati (via Kolkotta) and currently are looking for the options available through Indian Railways for it,” he said.
