Faryab will soon get big power station
Mazar-E-Sharf: A big power station will be built in Faryab province to provide electricity for Northern provinces, said the provincial governor Abdul Haq Shafaq after a meeting with the energy and water minister Islmail Khan.
Shafaq said the station in Andkhoy district will be built in 250 acres of land with a funding of $75 millions from the energy and water ministry's development budget.
The station will generate 1,000 megawatt of electricity, said the governor. Shafaq said work on construction of the station will start in five months.
The station will gather power locally produced in the north as well as power that come from Iran and Turkmenistan to Afghanistan. Head of the Faryab energy department Abdul Hamid said the shortage of power in northern and northeastern province will be solved after this station is operative.
At present, power imported from Iran, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan is used in Northern provinces.
