Exide Industries Injects Nearly ₹1,000 Crore into EV Arm Exide Energy Solutions in FY25.

Exide Industries, a leading name in storage batteries, injected nearly ₹1,000 crore into its wholly-owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), during the last financial year. This significant investment is earmarked for EESL's ambitious multi-gigawatt-hour (GWh) greenfield lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility currently under construction in Bengaluru.

As of April 2025, Exide has channeled a total of ₹3,602 crore into EESL to bolster the development of this 12 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant, which is being established in two phases.

In its recently released annual report for FY25, Exide Industries stated that "Construction and project work are at an advanced stage and commercial production for phase I is expected to start during FY2025-26." This strategic move underscores Exide's commitment to the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) and renewable energy storage markets, positioning itself as a key player in India's green energy transition.
