Ernst and Young consultants for Mumbai-Nagpur highway.

Ernst and Young has been appointed as the consultant for the ambitious Mumbai-Nagpur communication highway project.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the board of directors of Maharashtra State Road development Corporation (MSRDC) here, Maharashtra government said in a statement.

The consultant has been appointed to finalise the alignment of the highway.

The 800-km highway connecting Nagpur with Mumbai is supposed to be completed by 2019 and the project cost is estimated to be Rs. 30,000 crore.

It will pass through Ghoti, Aurangabad and Amravati and will cut the travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur to ten hours from the existing 15 hours.

Meanwhile, the MSRDC has also decided to install 'Brifen ropes' along the divider to prevent accidents on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and put up washrooms every 20 km. Tenders will be issued for these works.
