EMC India launches Hadoop Innovation Centre.

EMC has launched its Hadoop Innovation Centre, which allow software vendors to test real-use cases and create new solutions for enterprises in India and globally.

Hadoop is an open-source software technology that forms the backbone of big data analysis. The technology giant also announced the launch of for a week free, open, online and interactive course on how to make better sense of big data.

Amit Mehta, Country Manager, Isilon Storage Division, believes that the digital universe in India was doubling in size every two years and would grow in size with more digitisation and initiatives such as 'smart cities'. 'In such a scenario, Hadoop has immense potential and it will reinvent the way the industry manages big data,' he added.

In line with this, EMC launched its new solution called 'Federation Business Data Lake', with an aim to help enterprises manage and analyse big data in an efficient, scalable and cost-effective manner to make informed strategic decisions. One of the challenges that businesses face is that diverse data, structured and unstructured, lie in different storage devices, and it is difficult to get all the data together on to one platform so that they can be analysed, according to Niranjan Thirumale, CTO, EMC India.
