Dixon Technologies, Vivo partnership for manufacturing in India moves closer to approval.

The government is likely to clear the long-pending joint venture between Dixon Technologies and Vivo this month, a move expected to reduce the Chinese smartphone maker’s risk exposure in India, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The agreement for the joint venture was signed between the two companies in December 2024, under which Dixon Technologies is set to hold a majority 51% stake.

Sources said an inter-ministerial panel has already granted in-principle approval to the proposal, and the final clearance is expected from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) after completion of due process.

Once approved, the partnership is expected to strengthen local manufacturing and deepen Vivo’s operational presence in India through a structured joint venture framework.
