DHBVN plans 59 sub-stations

Chandigarh: The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) will implement its biggest ever annual plan to set up 59 substations of 33 KV and augment the capacity of several existing substations at a cost of Rs 275 crore within its jurisdiction and introduce a latest technology to set up unmanned substations during the financial year 2008-09.

A spokesman of DHBVN said here that the jurisdiction of DHBVN comprises of districts of Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurgaon, Mewat and Faridabad. He said that this project would include erection of new 33

KV lines, bifurcation and trifurcation of overloaded feeders, segregation of rural agriculture and domestic load and installation of new distribution transformers.

With the completion of this work, the capacity of transmission and distribution system would be augmented by about 615 MVA.

While increasing automation in its operational activities, the DHBVN has decided to construct new unmanned substations of latest technology.

The substations would be operated and controlled remotely from a central control room in Hisar. He said that in unmanned substations, there would be no requirement of conventional switch house buildings thus reducing construction cost on civil works and the substations would require smaller plots of land.

Application of latest information technology would connect the substations to the computers in the central control room at Hisar for operation and control.

The transformers to be set up at the substations would be of comparatively higher capacity of 10 MVA or 8 MVA each. He said that the DHBVN has commissioned 15 new substations of 33 KV in its jurisdiction, while 22 other new substations of this level are under construction. Most of these substations are nearing commissioning.
