"Defence Ministry Approves ₹84,560 Crore Worth of Proposals"

In a significant development, the Defence Ministry announced that the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has greenlit Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for a series of capital acquisition proposals totaling ₹84,560 crore.

Chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the DAC emphasized prioritizing procurement from Indian vendors, as highlighted by the Defence Ministry. Among the approved proposals, special attention was given to bolstering domestic defense capabilities.

Under the Buy Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) category, the DAC granted AoN for the procurement of a new generation of anti-tank mines equipped with seismic sensors and remote deactivation features for enhanced safety.

Additionally, to bolster operational efficiency and dominance in tactical battle areas, the DAC approved AoN for the procurement of Canister Launched Anti-Armour Loiter Munition System under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. This system aims to engage targets beyond the visual line of sight, particularly by mechanized forces.

Furthermore, the DAC sanctioned AoN for the procurement of Air Defence Tactical Control Radar under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. This acquisition seeks to bolster air defense systems, with a focus on detecting slow, small, and low-flying targets, as well as enhancing surveillance and tracking capabilities.

Moreover, to augment surveillance and interdiction capabilities of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), AoN was granted for the procurement of medium-range maritime reconnaissance and multi-mission maritime aircraft through the Buy and Make category.

These approvals underscore the government's commitment to enhancing indigenous defense capabilities and strengthening the nation's defense infrastructure across various operational domains.
