Danish firm gets equipment order from Prism Cement
Mumbai: Prism Cement, part of Rajan Raheja Group, has placed order worth DKK 225 million (Rs 203.5 crore) with Danish cement and minerals technology supplier FLSmidth & Co for supply of machinery and equipment for a new cement production line at Satna plant in Madhya Pradesh.
FLSmidth’s Indian project division in Chennai has conducted the negotiations for the new production line and will be responsible for implementing the project, FLSmidth said in an announcement to the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority.
The company will supply the machinery and auxiliary equipment comprising two ATOX raw mills, an ATOX coal mill and a kiln system with a two string 6-stage ILC pre-heater, a SF Cross Bar cooler and two UMS ball mills for cement grinding.
“In the late 90s, FLSmidth commissioned the Prism Cement plant’s first line and we view the choice of FLSmidth as supplier for the plant’s second line as a sign of our strong position on the expanding Indian cement market,” said Mr Jorgen Huno Rasmussen, CEO of FLSmidth & Co.
Prism Cement plans to increase cement capacity to 10 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) from the current 2.5 mtpa through brownfield expansion in Madhya Pradesh and greenfield project in Andhra Pradesh.
For the proposed greenfield project in Andhra Pradesh, the company has acquired most of the land for the mining operation. The company has been allotted coal block in Chindwara District in Madhya Pradesh.
The mining plans have been submitted to the concerned authority for requisite approval, Prism Cement said in a BSE announcement recently.
Prisim Cement has a manufacturing unit at Satna in Madhya Pradesh and will be adding another 4.5 million tonnes capacity to its existing plant through a brownfield expansion, which is expected to be commissioned by early 2010.
