Dai-ichi Life to Double India GCC Workforce to 600, Eyeing Local Tech Talent.
Dai-ichi Life Group, a leading Japanese life insurance giant, is gearing up for a substantial expansion of its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India. The company plans to ramp up its workforce from the current 50-60 employees to approximately 600 within the next three years, signaling a major commitment to the Indian technology talent pool.
Currently, the India GCC's existing 60 employees are "almost all Indian," underscoring the company's reliance on local expertise. This ambitious growth will be supported by additional teams of 30 to 40 individuals in Japan, specifically dedicated to this India initiative.
Stephen Barnham, Global CDO-CIO of Dai-ichi Life Group, highlighted India's robust ecosystem for technology talent as the primary driver behind this strategic decision. "India is one of the only markets where the talent, the government support, and the academic institutions are all there in the ecosystem," Barnham stated. This comprehensive environment makes India an ideal location for the insurer's expanding global capabilities.
The expansion is expected to create numerous opportunities for Indian tech professionals and further solidify India's position as a hub for global capability centers.
