Crompton Secures Largest-Ever Solar Pump Deal: ₹101 Cr from MEDA.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd., a venerable name in India's pump industry, has achieved a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainable energy by securing its largest-ever order in the solar water pump segment. The company has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) for a project valued at over ₹101 crore (exclusive of GST).

This substantial contract entails the design, manufacture, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of 4,500 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) across Maharashtra. The initiative falls under Component-B of the central government's flagship PM-KUSUM scheme, which aims to promote solar energy adoption among farmers.

The turnkey project underscores Crompton's dedication to empowering Indian farmers with sustainable irrigation solutions. It includes a crucial five-year comprehensive maintenance contract (CMC), ensuring the long-term reliability and operational efficiency of the installed systems. Crompton's advanced solar-powered DC submersible pumps are renowned for their durability, high performance, and ease of use, making them ideal for addressing water access challenges in remote and off-grid rural areas.

To ensure seamless implementation and ongoing support, Crompton will deploy its extensive network of trained field personnel, local district support teams, and robust after-sales service.

The order comes at a time of rapid expansion in India's submersible water pump market, fueled by increasing demand from agriculture, rural water supply, and off-grid applications. Solar-powered submersible pumps are becoming indispensable in regions facing irregular rainfall and limited grid power, providing consistent and sustainable irrigation.

Crompton actively participated in the tender processes across four key states: Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. The initial phase, overseen by SECI and MNRE, has now transitioned to respective state nodal agencies including HAREDA, MEDA, MSEDCL, MPUVNL, and RHDS for final execution. While Crompton is already operational in Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, the company is preparing to commence work in Madhya Pradesh and is poised to expand its footprint across other Indian states.
