At a recent Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries meeting in Mumbai, chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, two major projects worth ₹29,550 crore were approved for Ratnagiri. The first, a high-tech silicon wafer, fab, and ATMP manufacturing facility by Vellore Information Technology Park, will be located in the Watad and Zadgaon MIDC areas. This ₹19,550 crore project marks the third of its kind in the state and is expected to generate 33,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The second project, led by Reliance Infrastructure, is the state’s first mega aerospace and defense manufacturing initiative. With an investment of ₹10,000 crore, it will create 4,500 jobs in the region.
“These projects will significantly boost employment and economic activity in Ratnagiri, promoting technical innovation and strengthening the local supply chain,” the state government said in a statement. It also highlighted the opportunities these initiatives will provide for skill development and training, helping local workers build expertise in cutting-edge technologies.
