CM Reviews Progress of Expansion Project at BPCL.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy recently lauded the joint effort made by all the stakeholders, including the management of BPCL, labour unions, local panchayats, district administration, Police Department and the local political leaders for achieving remarkable progress in implementation of the Integrated Refinery Expansion Project (IREP) of the BPCL Kochi Refinery.

He was speaking during a visit to the project site, along with Fisheries and Ports Minister K Babu, to review the progress of the project implementation.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress in implementation of the Rs. 20,000-crore project. On the occasion, Chandy recalled that the IREP, which envisages expansion of the Kochi Refinery by 6 million metric tonnes, with capability to produce Euro 4 petroleum fuel, was being taken up with the financial incentive provided by the Kerala Government.

Oommen Chandy also appreciated the cooperation extended by the trade unions in ensuring uninterrupted work at the site. The Chief Minister was accompanied by V P Sajeendran MLA, District Collector M G Rajamanickam, District Police Chief K G James and Vadavucode Puthencruz grama panchayat president Rema Saju.

Earlier, BPCL Kochi Refinery executive director Prasad K Panicker and other senior officials received the Chief Minister and the other dignitaries.
