CIAL Awards Terminal Work to Pvt. Firm.

The Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) has awarded contract for the mechanical, electrical and public health systems of the new international terminal at Nedumbassery to Sterling and Wilson Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.

The CIAL is the first green-field airport in the country built under public-private partnership. It is also ranked the fourth largest international airport in India in terms of passenger traffic. The sprawling New international terminal has a built-up area of around 15 lakh sqft.

“Sterling and Wilson’s scope of work under the contract are electrical installations including HT and LT works; air-conditioning; fire protection; building management systems; plumbing management systems; and vertical and horizontal transportation system.

The project is expected to be completed within a period of 18 months. Sterling and Wilson will also assume responsibility for the overall operation and maintenance work, after commissioning of the new terminal, stated the release.
