Bonfiglioli to Invest ₹320 Crore in India Expansion with New Facilities in Tamil Nadu.

Bonfiglioli Transmissions Pvt Ltd, the Indian arm of Italy-based Bonfiglioli Group, is investing ₹320 crore to expand its operations in India. Recently, the company laid the foundation for a new Industry and Automation facility in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, about 90 km from Chennai, and inaugurated its Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Chennai.

Sonia Bonfiglioli, Chairwoman of Bonfiglioli S.p.A., highlighted the company's growth plans, stating, "With a targeted turnover of ₹1,900 crore by year-end, this expansion underscores our commitment to innovation, creating job opportunities and boosting our regional presence."

The new 25-acre plant in Cheyyar, set to begin operations by 2025, will strengthen Bonfiglioli’s standing as a major gearbox manufacturer in India. It will create 150-200 jobs and address the rising domestic demand for heavy-duty industrial gearboxes. This follows the company’s recent expansion in Pune, which focused on light and medium-duty industrial gearbox production.

Country Manager Kennady V. Kaippally emphasized the strategic impact of the expansion, stating, "The Cheyyar facility and the Bonfiglioli Technology Space position us to meet growing local demand and deliver innovative solutions."

The Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Chennai will act as a global competence hub, employing 180 engineers. It will focus on research, development, and technical support, featuring advanced testing labs to simulate real-world conditions and drive innovation in power transmission solutions.
