Bhilai Steel's Rs.730-crore sinter unit.

Bhilai Steel Plant of SAIL recently formally operationalised its Rs. 730 crore sinter unit. The unit will produce 3.7 million tonnes sinter a year. Sinter is an agglomeration of iron ore fines (dust) used to feed blast furnace to produce steel. SAIL Chairman CS Verma inspected the hot (sinter) trial production and reviewed the modernisation cum expansion work at the company's flagship unit.
