BHEL secures ₹6,700 crore contract from Singareni Collieries for Telangana power project.
State-owned engineering giant Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured a ₹6,700 crore contract from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) to develop an 800 MW supercritical thermal power unit in Telangana’s Mancherial district.
The project, awarded on an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis, involves design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning, including civil works, BHEL said in a statement.
The new unit will be set up adjacent to SCCL’s existing 2×600 MW power plant, which was also executed by BHEL and commissioned in 2016. Telangana relies heavily on BHEL, with the company having installed over 75% of the state’s coal-based power capacity.
As India’s leading power equipment manufacturer, with over 1,70,000 MW of installed utility power capacity, BHEL remains a key player in advancing the country’s energy security and self-reliance in power infrastructure.
