BHEL Bags Strategic SAIL Power Plant Contract.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Letter of Acceptance from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for the Captive Power Plant (CPP) Package No. CPP-1, part of SAIL’s 4.08 MTPA Cold Strip (CS) expansion at the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur.

The turnkey contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, transportation, unloading, storage, erection, commissioning, and performance guarantee tests for the power plant, with civil works excluded.

The domestic, global tender award is valued between ₹1,200 crore and ₹1,500 crore (excluding GST). BHEL aims to complete commissioning within 39 months from the contract’s effective date.

“This project reinforces BHEL’s strong position in delivering large-scale power infrastructure and supporting India’s steel sector expansion,” a company statement said.
