BHEL bags Rs 394cr RINL contract

New Delhi: Power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) today said it has bagged a Rs 394 crore contract from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam for setting up a captive power plant at Vizag Steel Pant in Andhra Pradesh.

The power plant would meet electricity requirement of the upcoming expansion project of the steel plant and is slated for commissioning in 26 months, BHEL said in a statement.

The proposed plant would be equipped with a multi-fuel fired boiler, designed to utilise blast furnace gas a waste gas emanating from the steel making process as well as coal.

The boiler would be made at BHEL's Trichy plant, it added.

Besides, a steam turbine generator set would be supplied from the company's Hyderabad plant.

BHEL's scope of work as per the turnkey order involves design, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the power plant in addition to civil works
