Bharat Forge Wins ₹4,140 Crore Artillery System Contract from Defence Ministry.

Bharat Forge Limited has signed a ₹4,140 crore contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the supply of 184 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS), the company announced on Wednesday. The deal, which accounts for 60% of the ₹6,900 crore procurement program for the 155mm/52 calibre artillery system, marks a significant boost for India’s defence manufacturing sector.

Signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, the contract underscores Bharat Forge’s role in advancing the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative. Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge, highlighted the agreement as a major step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities.

Developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the ATAGS system represents a breakthrough in high-performance artillery technology. The contract further solidifies Bharat Forge’s position as a key defence and aerospace supplier, reinforcing India’s push for domestic defence production.

With a global manufacturing presence spanning five countries, Bharat Forge continues to expand its footprint in the defence sector, aligning with the government’s vision of reducing dependency on imports and bolstering homegrown military technology.
