Bharat Forge sets up new facility at Pune
Pune: Bharat Forge announced the commissioning of its new facility, an open forging press, at Mundhwa.
The facility, inaugurated by Mr Azeez M. Khan, Principal Secretary, Industries, Government of Maharashtra, is the largest open forging press in the country, the company said in a statement.
The 4000T open die press will produce ingots ranging up to 70 tonnes and cater to sectors such as wind energy, oil and gas, steel, power, gear, cement ship building, pressure vessel, petrochemical and sugar industry.
Among the parts that will be manufactured here will be shafts for the wind energy and power generation sectors, well heads and x-mas tree parts for the O&G industry and pinion shafts, gear blanks etc. for the capital goods sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr B.N. Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge, said, “Today marks a very significant step that we have taken into a new area of business – manufacture of critical components for the non-automotive sector.
“We intend to replicate our successful automotive business strategy to attain a global leadership position in the non-automotive sectors.”
