Bangladesh to have Bone Marrow Centre

Dhaka: Grameen Health Care Trust in Bangaladesh and Cure2Children Foundation of Italy will jointly establish a Bone Marrow Transplantation Centre for Thalassemia in Bangladesh.

The proposed centre has plans for begining the first transplant within the first half of 2010 and to cure all cases of Thalassemia by 2025.

Cure2Children goal will jointly work with Grameen Health Care Trust for providing a financially self-sustainable social business for Bone Marrow Transplantation that is useful for Bangladesh and other countries.

The aim of the proposed unit is to set up a Social Business in Bangladesh for starting the bone-marrow transplant, the only cure for Thalassemia.
