Axiom plans to invest over $3 mn in India
Bangalore: Axiom Design Automation, a semiconductor design solutions company, has expanded its Indian operations with a new facility in Bangalore. Its other R&D facility in India was set up in Mangalore last month.
The company has announced an investment of over $3 million in India. It also said that its headcount will exceed 150 by the end of 2008.
The Bangalore facility was inaugurated by Dr Prabhu Goel, EDA expert & Founder of Verilog Language. Mr Dasaratha R. Gude, Vice-President & Managing Director, AMD’s R&D Centre-Hyderabad, was the Guest of Honour.
Mr Badru Agarwala, President & CEO, Axiom, said: “Axiom is focused on building a complete verification flow to customers and is expanding portfolio constantly for performance, productivity and verification closure. Significant investment in R&D becomes a natural evolution as India continues to have a major impact in our overall business and the company heads to record a 100 per cent growth this year.”
Said Mr Avtar Saini, Chairman, Axiom: “Verification challenges are increasing exponentially with linear increase in design complexity. Talent engagement thus becomes critical to adopt new tools and methodologies for on-time delivery. The new facilities in Bangalore and Mangalore enhance our ability to attract an increasing number of the talented engineers in India who will play a key role in ensuring customers’ success.”
Mr Ravi Shankar, Managing Director, Axiom India, said: “The silicon design ecosystem is witnessing great progress in India and we need to expand the talent pool further in vertical domains. Axiom is adopting novel strategies to build talent and apply them in project situations. With strong presence in tools, methodologies and high-end design services space, we are in a position to address our customers’ challenges in ASIC/SoC verification.”
Axiom Design Automation was instrumental in developing advanced functional verification products.
The company has a global sales and support team with R&D centres in the US and India. Recently it acquired SysChip Technologies to expand its verification solutions footprint.
