Atlassian Expands India Footprint, Opens New R&D Centre in Bengaluru.
Atlassian, the Australian software giant, has announced the opening of a new, state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru. The new facility spans over 2 lakh square feet, quadrupling the size of its previous office in the city, marking a significant deepening of its investment in India as a key global R&D hub.
India is one of Atlassian's fastest-growing R&D sites, playing a crucial role in the development of its products. With more than 2,500 employees, India has the company’s largest workforce outside of Australia and the US.
Approximately 75% of Atlassian's India-based employees are in R&D roles, contributing to some of the company’s most strategic product development areas, including enterprise search, commerce, data residency, and customer success.
Rajeev Rajan, Atlassian’s Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the significance of the expansion. "India continues to be one of our most important R&D hubs, and Bengaluru sits at the heart of this growth," Rajan said. "This new world-class R&D Centre is more than just a larger space; it’s a symbol of our investment in the future of work, in distributed teamwork, and most importantly, in the exceptional talent we have here in India."
Rajan also praised the local team, stating, "The team is truly building cutting-edge solutions for our global market, and we’re thrilled to give them a vibrant space to connect, create, and collaborate."
