APOA, CPOPC, and Solidaridad Sign MoU to Strengthen Sustainable Palm Oil Collaboration in South Asia.

The Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA), the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), and Solidaridad Network Asia Limited (SNAL) have signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mumbai to enhance collaboration between palm oil producers and consumers and accelerate sustainability efforts across the palm oil value chain, with a particular focus on India and South Asia.

Under the agreement, CPOPC will serve as a catalyst and advocate for sustainable palm oil practices while working to align national sustainability frameworks such as Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO), Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO), and the Indian Palm Oil Sustainability (IPOS) framework. The partnership also emphasizes adopting regenerative agricultural practices.

To ensure a stable supply for over 1.5 billion consumers in South Asia, the collaborators will promote traceable, smallholder-inclusive, and No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE)-compliant sourcing. This initiative will be supported by pilot projects using Solidaridad’s SoliTrace digital traceability platform and advanced remote-sensing technologies. These pilots aim to provide end-to-end mill-to-market visibility and deliver importer-facing dashboards tailored specifically for Indian buyers.
